ACADEMIC AWARDS PROGRAM

The CHSAA has a number of programs that schools can participate in to garner recognition for their students. The following is a list of the programs that acknowledge the student for his/her participation and success the classroom and academic arena.

To nominate a student for these awards, use the form in the CHSAA Form Book, or contact the appropriate person for additional information.

Academic Awards

ACTIVE SCHOLAR AWARD.  Two students from each school may be nominated for this recognition. They must have a grade point average above 3.5, be a junior or senior and have participated in two or more CHSAA-sanctioned activities over the past two years. Nominations are due in April. ACADEMIC INDIVIDUAL ALL-STATE AWARD. Varsity students with grade point averages of 3.3 to 3.59 receive Honorable Mention, while students with grade point averages higher than 3.6 receive First Team honors. Nominations are due seasonally (see CHSAA Calendar). (Contact: School Athletic Director)

ACADEMIC TEAM CHAMPIONS. Varsity teams and/or groups with grade point averages of 3.2 or higher are eligible for this program. A team champion is declared in each of the CHSAA’s sanctioned activities and in all classifications. The program is sponsored by The Denver Post and NEWS4. Weekly Recognition

IBM HIGH SCHOOL HEROES AWARD. Students, coaches/sponsors, administrators and officials may be nominated for this award each week. Recipients must have excelled in their sport or activity and contribute to the welfare of their school and/or community. Nominations accepted through the fall sports season only (see Form Book). School Programs

CHSAA SPORTSMANSHIP – It’s How You Play the Game. The Association, in a program sponsored by The Denver Post, has developed a broad-based sportsmanship program that will assist your efforts in improving sportsmanship at your school and within your community. Materials are mailed out to you at various times during the year. (contact: Tom Robinson)
